Bob Martin - photographer

Bob Martin is a sports photographer. He specialises in taking action, graphic and editorial pictures for many different people. He has won many awards during his 30 years of photography such as being a three time winner of the British Sports Photographer of the year and the World Press Photo Sports picture. He lives in England is the only Sports Illustrated photographer that is based outside of the USA. His photographs have been placed in many different magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Time, Life Magazine, The Sunday Times and The New York Times. He has taken pictures at many sporting events such as the Olympics and Horse racing on ice.

I like this photo because the athlete is a silhouette in the sky. I like the way that the picture is in lots of darkness aside from the two spots of light. I like that Bob Martin has managed to capture this image at the perfect time to make the silhouette stand out:

I like this photo because it's in the middle of action and you can see the facial expression that the man has as all the mud comes flying towards him. I like how Bob Martin managed to capture the image at the perfect moment to get the mud flying and the mans expression:

I like this photo because it shows the precision of ballet and how precise the girl is being. I like that it is in black and white as it adds effect to the girl, it makes her seem more in the spotlight as she is the brightest area in the photo. I also like the shadows on the floor and on her body from the angle that she is standing at:

I like this photo because the photo is just focusing on the hands coming out of the pool. I like that the bottom of the photograph is darker and less in focus which brings more attention and focus to the lighter area of the photograph where the hands are.

Photoshopped photos

After:
I used the quick selection tool to highlight the word "water" on the extinguisher. I changed it to a dark blue colour and then put on the effect "darker colour" which made the speckled colour on the word. I then went onto curves and changed the filter of the whole picture to one that is darker. This created the photo, I like how it looks like something out of a horror movie.

After:
I used the quick selection tool to highlight the shoelaces, I changed these to a pink colour and put on a "difference" effect and turned down the opacity. I then used the tool to highlight the jeans and change them to a pink colour. I changed the effect on this to "hue" then turned down the opacity. I then then went onto curves and changed it so that the picture looked like that.

Movement photo task

We had to take 6 photos of movement. Whilst I was in Edinburgh with my friend, I decided to take some pictures.

I took a picture of the chairs on the bus as we were on our way to Edinburgh. I made the focus the chairs in the distance rather than the ones in front of me, i liked the way that the blurred chairs at the front could still be seen:

I took a picture of a man playing guitar on the street, i liked that the street seemed to trail off into the distance:

I took a picture of the people walking up the street, i like that they are all mid movement and that the buildings are tall and seem to surround everyone:

I took a picture looking up the street, i liked that all the buildings seem to go in a straight line and lead off into the distance, i also like the way that the people seem so small compared to the size of the buildings:

On the bus home i took a picture of the cars and the tram lines, i like that the buildings are in such a straight line and that the woman is running across the road. I don't like that the reflection from the bus can be seen in the picture and that some of it is blurred:

I took a picture of the bus on the other side of the road, i liked that the bus is slightly blurred from moving, i don't like that the reflection from thre window can be seen:

12 hour photo task

We had to take a photo every hour for 12 hours. I took my photos on a Saturday.

11:00 - I took a picture of my hair dryer as at this time I had come out of the shower and was getting ready for the day. I liked the way that the black was contrasting to the carpet of the room:

12:00 - After taking my time showering and drying my hair, i got dresses and did my make up and then curled my hair. I took a picture of my hairspray and foundation. I tried to get one of the bottles in focus more than the other. I also liked the way the shadows were on the floor of my room:

13:00 - I had to put away all of my ironing back into my wardrobe, I liked the way that all of the different colours of clothes could be seen in the picture and how they were contrasting colours:

14:00 - I sat down and watched friday's episode of Celebrity Big Brother. I liked that the screen could be  easily seen and the difference of colours between the black and the red of the joggers:

15:00 - I decided to read the book my sister got me for my birthday. I tried to get the bottom of the book more in focus than the top:

16:00 - I sat at my desk and watched some Netflix, I took a picture of my light and lava lamp that were on. I liked the way that the rest of the picture was in the dark but the light was bright:

17:00 -  I took my dog out for a walk, we had to walk past a horse field. This is my favourite picture as i like how close i was to the horse and how in focus its face was:

18:00 - I was still out on my long dog walk, i liked the way that the light from the lamp post went in a line all the way down the street light:

19:00 - I decided to look over my lines in the script of the play I am taking part in. I liked the way that the light and shadows looked in the curves of the script:

20:00 - I decided to play civ the computer game, I liked the way that the light from the computer showed the keys of the keyboard and that the screen was in focus:

21:00 - I played with my dog for a while, I liked that I caught him in a blink and tat i managed to get his face in focus that close:

22:00 - I went out to meet my friend for a little while, i liked the way that the building looking and how it seemed to merge with the darkness:
